Ed is admitted to practice law in the State of Vermont, the Federal District Court of Vermont, the Circuit Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Over the years, he has handled cases in many different areas of the law. He has represented a multitude of individual, small business, and corporate clients. His practice has included: cases before the Vermont Supreme Court; representation for the Stowe Electric Department of the last thirty years; representation of Vermont Asbestos Group in the defense of several thousand asbestos personal injury claims. Throughout his years of practice, Ed’s clients have included real estate developers; sellers and buyers of businesses and real estate; plaintiffs and defendants in civil actions; banks; companies; health care organizations; estates; and individuals of all types. He has assisted in the establishment of businesses, drafting of complex contracts, preparation of wills, and has generally advised individual and corporate clients in connection with their conflicts and a wide array of other issues. Ed acts as general counsel for many individual businesses and organizations. Ed firmly believes in being a dedicated attorney for a lifetime client. He believes that an attorney must develop a strong relationship of trust and understanding in order to fully serve the needs of his clients. Many of the clients of Stackpole & French have a longstanding commitment to the firm. Ed has actively been involved in many professional and public service organizations including: Vermont Bar Association; Lamoille County Bar Association; Board Member of the Lamoille Valley Chamber of Commerce; Commissioner of the Stowe Electric Department; Trustee of the Village of Hyde Park, Vermont; Board Member of Civil Authority in Hyde Park, Vermont; Charter Member of the Lamoille Area Lions Club; Board Member of the Lamoille County Mental Health Agency; Stowe Rotary Club; President of the Board of Lamoille County Mental Health, also known as Lamoille Community Connections; and Hyde Park Town Agent and Grand Juror for the last 20 years. Ed enjoys the recreational and cultural activities that make the Lamoille Region such a rewarding place to live. He is a member of the Metropolitan Club in New York City and the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, an international wine society.
