After falling in love with Vermont during a visit, he later received his Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School in 2022. While attending law school, Clay spent over a year working in the Veterans Legal Assistance Project helping underserved veterans obtain legal counsel.

Clay is a native of the Tidewater region of Virginia, raised on a working farm, and grew up in the Richmond area. When not in the office he is an avid skier and outdoorsman, a lifelong equestrian, as well as a sports fanatic.
