Dark Gray Divider Line

Our Founder David Stackpole grew up in Johnson, Vermont, attended local schools in Johnson and Morrisville, and then went on to graduate from Dartmouth College and Cornell Law School. Over his five decades as a member of the Vermont Bar David represented a multitude of clients throughout Vermont. He was State’s Attorney for Lamoille County for several years, law partner with Tom Amidon for ten years, and law partner with Ed French for twenty-five years.

David was deeply committed to public service, through his service as Stowe Town Moderator for twenty years, Director of the Lamoille Family Center, founding director of Lamoille County Mental Health, chair of the Johnson State College Foundation, and a founding member of the Lamoille Cancer Network. In his last years David dedicated a great deal of time and energy to promoting the mission of Vermont Farm to School, a non-profit committed to coordinating food distribution between Vermont Farmers and local schools.

David is remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, his honesty, his interest in and empathy for others, and his unwavering dedication to the humanist practice of law. David was keen and engaging in mind and spirit right up until the end. David Stackpole passed on in 2020.
